Cloud Portability

The cloud computing portability is classified into:

  1. Data Portability
  2. Application Portability
  3. Platform Portability
  • Data Portability

Data components are re-used with the help of data portability across various applications. Customer Relations Management (CRM) is offered by SaaS which is used by the enterprise for instance and the commercial terms become the product which is not acceptable compared with other SaaS products or with the use of a House CRM solution. The SaaS product was held by the customer data which may be important to the enterprise operation. How can you move the data easily to another CRM solution? There are lots of cases where it will be very difficult. For fitting a particular form of application processing the structure of data is designed and an important transformation is required to produce data that can be managed by a different product.

From the difficulty of shifting the various products in a traditional environment this not different. But in an environment that is cultural, the customers do not have the ability to do anything and to stay with a previous version of a product, for instance, the more costly one. The vendor can effortlessly put pressure on the customer for purchasing more with Saas or the service will be lost completely.

  • Application Portability

With application portability, the application components are reused among cloud PaaS services along with computing platforms that are traditional. On a single cloud PaaS service, an enterprise has an application constructed for performance other reasons or cost with a desire to change another PaaS service that will no be easy.

To a particular platform if the application features are present or have a non-standard platform interface then it will not be easy.

A standard interface is required by application portability by the supporting platform. The application must be enabled by them to use the service discovery and information protocols done by the platform

It may make applications to handle the basic resources on a cloud PaaS platform or a platform running on a cloud IaaS service.

With cloud computing, a particular application portability issue occurs and is portable between operational and development environments. For development environments, a cloud PaaS is attractive as it neglects the requirement for investment in costly systems that will be unused after the development is complete.

The two famous devops are indeed increased by development and operations developed by getting closer. The application portability environment is actually present along with development.

  • Platform Portability

Platform portability is of two types:

Across non-cloud infrastructure and cloud Iaas services, the re-use of platform components can be done.

Data and application along with supporting platforms are bundled with re-use.

An example of platform source portability offered by the UNIX operating system in the C programming language can be done on various hardware by re-compiling it and re-writing a few little hardware. An instance of platform source portability is offered by the UNIX OS and is written in the C programming language and can be done on various hardware re-writing little hardware sections that are not coded in C. In the same way, some other operating systems can be ported.
